If you have finally finished your schooling to be a physician assistant, but now find that the physician assistant salary is not adequate to meet your needs, there are several things you can do to make ends meet. Consider the following ideas to make it through this difficult time.

1. Get a second job. In order to earn a little extra money, consider getting a second job. Just make sure that the second job is not too demanding, so that your work as a physician assistant does not suffer. Working as a hotel clerk or as a receptionist might be good choices.

2. Reduce expenses. Look through your budget and begin eliminating expenses that are more luxuries than necessities. These might include cable television, gym memberships and internet access on your cell phone.

3. Eat frugally. It is amazing how much money we spend on food when we eat out. Try preparing all of your food at home from scratch, and you will be surprised at how much money you save!

Phlebotomy Training- an Exciting Program!

Dash for Diabetes, as indicated by the name, was organized to benefit ... I love my job as a Phlebotomist. I tell everyone how great Phlebotomy Training was and how much interesting information was packed so well into such a short program.

Certification only took one year and almost immediately after completion, I found a job at a hospital lab. The certification opened up so many opportunities for me. Since then, I have referred two friends to the program, who are enjoying it just as much as I had. They are always thanking me for my well guided advice.

Everyday I see different patients, who require blood drawn for different reasons. I also see many people anxious about the procedure. I believe myself to be a great calming force and presence and this ability has brought real purpose to my life. It is a simple procedure compared to all else that happens each day at the hospital, but is still just as valuable in the process of getting people well again.

SAFRA Changes to the Pell Grant

Constantly evolving, the pell grant award is facing new changed during the 2011-2012 school year. Some of the changes can be directly related to SAFRA legislation, or the student aid and fiscal responsibility act. In past years, students were able to obtain two awards per year. Thanks to new laws, students may now only receive the Pell grant once during an academic year.

Becoming law on March 30, 2010, the student aid and fiscal responsibility act, or SAFRA, brought changes to the pell grant. Increases for thresholds on EFC was the most critical of these changes. The maximum EFC, or expected family contribution, raised from $4,617 to $5,273. The new maximum opened the doors for more students to qualify for the pell grant.

Under SAFRA, the pell grant amount itself has also increased to $5,550. Remember, this is the maximum amount a pell grant can be, not a guarantee that your amount will be this high.

If you want to excel in your work as a medical assistant, then it would be better if you are naturally meticulous to a fault. When working in the field of healthcare, there is really little room for making mistakes. Every life counts, after all, and even the smallest mistake can cause someone to lose his or her life in the process.

Even if you are not the physician actually operating on a patient, as a medical assistant you are still involved with the procedure by being asked to hand over to the physician required supplies or equipment for the operation. Let’s say the patient has Type A blood and you gave him Type AB. What would have happened then?

As a medical assistant, you should also be naturally caring toward other people. You should not mind hearing them speak of their condition frequently because you understand the pain and difficulties they are going through. If listening to them already helps, who are you to refuse such a small favor for them?
